SDGs Declaration<\/h3>\n<figure class=\"mainlogo\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_01.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"maincopy\">\nDainichi Can Co., Ltd. incorporates the spirit of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its business activities. Through these efforts, we aim to help build a sustainable society.<\/p>\n<p>The SDGs, a set of global goals adopted at the United Nations summit in September 2015, define targets for the world to achieve by 2030. Under the guiding principle of \u201cleaving no one behind,\u201d the SDGs address environmental and social issues around the world. The framework includes 17 goals and 169 targets for bringing about a sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"tac\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_02_en.jpg\" alt=\"SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS\">\n<\/figure>\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Through our manufacturing activities, we contribute to progress on the following 12 goals.<\/h3>\n<figure class=\"tac\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_03_en.jpg\" alt=\"\">\n<\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Development, production, and sales of polypropylene (PP) bands made with recycled and reclaimed materials<\/h3>\n<p>We develop, manufacture, and sell PP bands made with recycled and reclaimed materials, supporting the creation of a recycling-oriented society. We also collect used PP bands from major customers in nearby areas and recycle the bands into pellets, which we then reuse as raw material for new PP bands. This process helps reduce plastic waste in the surrounding region and fosters sustainable community development.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_11_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_12_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_13_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n<h4 class=\"hw_type3\">Recycling DIC bands<\/h4>\n<figure class=\"frame\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_04_en.jpg\" alt=\"Recycling DIC bands\">\n<\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Development, production, and sales of PP bands with plastic cores<\/h3>\n<p>Having switched from traditional single-use (1WAY) paper cores to plastic cores, we reduce industrial waste and help cultivate a recycling-oriented society.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_12_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_15_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n<h4 class=\"hw_type3\">Reusing DIC Band Pla-Core<\/h4>\n<figure class=\"frame\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_05_en.jpg\" alt=\"Reusing DIC Band Pla-Core\">\n<\/figure>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Development, production, and sales of lightweight PP bands and sales of stretch film<\/h3>\n<p>Reducing the thickness of PP bands lowers the amount of plastic raw material required, enabling more effective use of resources.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_12_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Development, production, and sales of concrete reinforcement materials (polypropylene fiber)<\/h3>\n<p>Polypropylene fibers provide support for tunnels and other elements of public infrastructure. Mixed with concrete, the materials help prevent cracking, which means safer, more reliable infrastructure.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_09_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_11_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_12_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"tac\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_06.jpg\" alt=\"\">\n<\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Development, production, and sales of laminated cans<\/h3>\n<p>We develop and manufacture our laminated cans without using any environmentally harmful substances or organic solvents, minimizing the impact on both the global environment and the communities in areas where we operate. In addition, we leverage the unique properties of laminated film to extend product shelf life and thereby reduce product loss stemming from expiration. Since our laminated cans enter the recycling stream and return as steel materials, they also reinforce our commitment to effective resource utilization.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_02_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_09_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_12_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Quality initiatives (ISO 9001)<\/h3>\n<p>Our Quality Policy states: \u201cWe place the highest priority on quality, deliver products our customers can trust, and contribute to society.\u201d Based on this core commitment, the entire Dainichi Can organization works to contribute to society by improving our technology, quality, and service and delivering products and services that meet customer needs.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Food safety initiatives (FSSC 22000)<\/h3>\n<p>As food safety comes under closer scrutiny, providing safe food demands more than safe ingredients\u2014it also requires food-safe containers throughout the supply chain. We manufacture our 18-liter cans under a meticulous hygiene-control framework. In doing so, we help support the delivery of safe, reliable food products.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_02_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_13_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_12_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"tac\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_07_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Environmental initiatives<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Power and energy management<\/strong><br>\nBy implementing LED lighting, inverter-driven equipment, demand control, and other approaches, we work to make efficient use of power and energy and help address climate-change issues. We maintain a five-day workweek and ensure 122 days off a year, a framework that allows employees to balance their professional and personal lives. Every year, we also provide health checkups that go above and beyond the government requirements. Influenza vaccinations and stress checks for all employees are also part of the practices we have in place to help our employees stay healthy.\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_03_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_08_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n\n<p>\n  <strong>Creating a comfortable work environment for everyone<\/strong><br>\nWe hire motivated employees\u2014regardless of gender or job type\u2014in all our departments.<br>\nWe have also established internal rules on harassment to ensure a comfortable work environment and hold training sessions to prevent harassment from happening.<br>\nIn addition, we support the government\u2019s work-style reform initiatives by optimizing working conditions and workplace environments. Key initiatives along these lines include encouraging employees to take at least five days of paid leave per year and creating a company-wide salary system that emphasizes fairness.<br>\nWe also offer maternity\/childcare leave, short-term leave for sick\/injured childcare, caregiver leave, and paid leave that employees can take by the hour, all of which give employees a better ability to balance work with childcare and family responsibilities.<br>\nIn our proactive efforts to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities, we plan to work with special needs education schools to provide work-experience opportunities.\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_03_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_05_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_08_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_10_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n\n<p>\n  <strong>Creating rewarding, fulfilling workplaces<\/strong><br>\nAt Dainichi Can, we have a suggestion program that encourages employees to propose improvements to company operations. When a suggestion produces measurable results, we award prizes based on its impact. We also recognize dedicated, long-term service. Employees receive award bonuses based on years of service, and those who reach retirement with 25 or more years of service receive both a bonus and additional special leave. In addition, we support employees in obtaining professional certifications and developing new skills. We also subsidize tuition for English conversation schools. To help our diverse mix of employees thrive, we are committed to closing the gender gap through a variety of efforts to enhance our company culture. For example, we allow employees to move from general positions to career-track positions\u2014and hire people directly into career-track positions\u2014regardless of gender.\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_04_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_05_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_08_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n\n<p>\n  <strong>Strengthening emergency preparedness and improving employee safety<\/strong><br>\nWe take a variety of steps to protect employees from infectious diseases. For example, we created our own COVID-19 prevention guidelines, implemented a remote-work system, and created an online-meeting infrastructure. To improve workplace hygiene, we also use anti-droplet partitions, place alcohol sanitizers at office entrances, and disinfect workplaces regularly. Our efforts look to future potential threats, as well: we continue to strengthen our preventive measures to address future infectious diseases and keep our employees well-protected. Being prepared for emergencies, such as major earthquakes, is another focus at Dainichi Can. To ensure employee safety, we regularly update hazard maps, plan for employees who may be unable to return home in an emergency, identify evacuation locations in nearby areas, install automated external defibrillator devices on company premises, and distribute disaster-preparedness manuals to employees. Through these and other related efforts, we continue to bolster our safety management systems for optimal resilience in the face of disaster.\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"sdgs_icon\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_03_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/static\/images\/company\/sdgs_icon_08_en.png\" alt=\"\">\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"hw_type2\">Social contribution through donations<\/h3>\n<p>\n<strong>Donations of unused clothing and other items to an NPO<\/strong><br>\nTwice a year, we collect clothing from employees and donate the items through an NPO.
